As we move forward to 2021, may we keep 2020 in our memories as a reminder that #WhatDoesntKillYouOnlyMakesYouStronger. I am glad to have had the opportunity to serve as an assessor appointed under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act by the Ministry of Law.

We were called to help to decide whether it was just and equitable to grant relief, and to make justice, whether legal or otherwise, slightly more accessible. While we were not #frontliners in the strictest of senses, it is our hope that our efforts made a difference by softening the impact COVID-19 had, especially on small business owners, landlords and tenants.

As the nightmare of 2020 draws to a close, we look forward to entering Phase 3, the 3 more people that we can dine with/invite to our homes, and the administration of the vaccine for COVID-19 bringing a glimmer of hope of a “better normal”.
